Sculpting at Mount Rushmore with Kim Henkel
Mount Rushmore National Memorial invites you to participate in FREE sculpture workshops offered this summer. Kim Henkel will be returning as Mount Rushmore's artist in residence and will lead participants through the skills and art of clay portraiture and stone carving.

July 17th and 18th
Sculpture in Water base Clay with Patti Andre
This class is for anyone that would Love to play with clay. We will sculpt for two days then by Aug 15th your pieces will be dried and fired in Patti’s kiln. Then we will finish your pieces with patinas and a base if needed. This class will be great fun! Patti has sculpted in clay over 25 years.

July 21st, 22nd, and 23rd
Bas Relief with Jim Franklin
The process of relief sculpture is difficult. Many of the world's renowned sculptors have found relief sculpture to be frustrating. Jim Franklin has been sculpting portraits of human subjects in relief for over 20 years. He is an excellent sculptor and teacher.

Cold Casting 101
Instructors - Karen Richardson and Brian Dreith of Custom Castings

Learn how to choose the right material for your project. We will demonstrate casting with Forton MG and Urethane resins; with and without metal powders. Helpful hints, proper releases and basic finishing techinques, using fillers,and basic patinas will be covered.

Students can bring a mold of their own - 12" or smaller to cast. A variety of molds will be available also.
